2002 Tournament
|
The 9th annual VolleyPalooza model beach volleyball tournament, presented by Ocean Drive Magazine and Y-100 Radio was held February 23-24, 2002. The teams from the modeling agencies once again showed they not only look great, but they play fantastic beach volleyball.
The final four teams were Alliance Talent Group, Boca Models, The Green Agency, and Models Inc, and they played some exciting matches to wrap up a great weekend of beach volleyball. Models Inc beat The Green Agency to go undefeated in the winner's bracket. The tournament is double elimination, and in the "one loss" bracket, Boca Models beat Alliance Talent Group, and then went on to beat The Green Agency. In the championship game, Models Inc defeated Boca Models to win the 2002 tournament. Not only were they undefeated in this year's tournament, but they have now won the last two tournaments with their incredible level of play.
Rick Delgado did his usual excellent job as master-of-ceremonies, keeping the event organized, and keeping the crowd informed about the tournament and the sponsors. Superstar DJ Mark Leventhal kept everyone's energy high by pumping some fabulous tunes through the massive sound system set up onstage.
In addition to the final rounds of the tournament, Sunday featured Tommy Davidson onstage, and a live performance by Baha Men. Tommy Davidson is famous for his performances in In Living Color, Booty Call, Woo, and Between Brothers. The Baha Men, natives of the Bahamas, are well known for their Who Let The Dogs Out hit among others (see www.artemisrecords.com/bahamen_bio.asp for more about the group).
