The following is background information on some of the modeling agencies participating in this year's VolleyPalooza tournament.
Ford Models, founded in 1946 by Eileen and Jerry Ford, is one of the world's oldest and largest modeling agencies. Ford is based in New York, and has offices in various cities in North America, South America, and Europe. Katie Ford took over as CEO of the agency in 1995, and has continued to keep Ford at the top of the industry. She has brought innovation to an already successful business such as through the formation of the Ford Music Division, representing music celebrities to the fashion and advertising world. The Green Agency was founded in 1989 by sisters Lauren and Tammy Green, and is located only a short walk from where VolleyPalooza is played. The Green Agency has become one of the most prominent South Florida agencies, representing models and actors in print, television, and film. The agency manages talent via three different business divisions: Green Fashion, Green Talent, and the Green Kids Club House. Irene Marie Management Group, founded in 1984 by former high fashion model Irene Marie, is based on Ocean Drive, directly across the street from the VolleyPalooza tournament. Irene Marie is credited with being one of the primary forces in bringing today's thriving modeling industry to South Beach. Irene Marie has always been involved with famous models, such as by discovering supermodel Nikki Taylor at age fourteen, representing television star and former VolleyPalooza player Galen Gering (www.galengering.com), and managing current Calvin Klein modeling sensation Ethan Spears. Karin Models, was founded in 1976 in Paris. It opened its Miami office in 1995, and today has offices in several cities including recent additions in Russian and Israel. Next Model Management, founded in 1989 by Faith Kates, has grown to become one of the top agencies in the world. The company's executive management team includes Joel Wilkenfeld who joined the agency in 1992 when he merged his successful Spectrum Model Agency into Next. The executive management team also includes Lorenzo Pedrini, formerly one of the top male models in the world, whose association with Next goes back to 1989. Lorenzo significantly increased Next's European business by opening Next Paris in 1996 and Next London in 1999. Today, Next represents over 200 female and male models, including some of the top names in the industry such as Yasmeen Ghauri. Wilhelmina Models was founded in 1967, and has offices in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. It is one of the largest agencies in the world, representing over 1,000 models, and is a full service agency managing women, men, and children. Wilhelmina has handled many famous personalities such as Whitney Houston, Lauren Hutton, Jessica Lange, Amber Valetta, and Linda Evangelista. Wilhelmina Artists Management was launched in 1998, representing celebrities from the world of sports, music, entertainment, and fashion.
